About inthenickioftime

Piscean dreamer, lots of ideas in my head which rarely make it beyond my thoughts! Inspired by the sea, literature, lighthouses, islands, Scotland. Sometime photographer, wordsmith and ornithologist. That is the waffly stuff! On a more practical note, I am 51 and live in Oxfordshire with my husband of 24 years, our two teenagers and a cocker spaniel named in honour of Daphne du Maurier. I work for a small professional association where I willingly do everything from making (very bad) tea to editing the magazine. I have been a bookworm since I was about 9 or 10 and have been on a diet for probably just as long!

I am a celebrant and my aim is to help families and couples plan the ceremony they want, whether that is a funeral, wedding celebration, or ceremony to mark other important life stages such as the naming of a new baby, or renewal of vows. I have excellent writing skills, am used to speaking in public and have a lifelong love of literature and poetry. As a person I am kind, empathetic and well-organised. In my professional life I have a great deal of experience of organising events and know that the details matter.

I’ve successfully completed the national qualification Level 3 Diploma in Funeral Celebrancy (QCF), which is delivered by Civil Ceremonies Ltd, who started Celebrant-led funerals in the UK in 2002. I have also gained the NOCN Level 3 Diploma in Celebrancy: Naming and Couples (RQF), covering Wedding & Partnership Celebration Ceremonies, Commitment Ceremonies, Renewal of Marriage & Partnership Vows and Naming Ceremonies. You can be assured of my qualifications to help you plan your special occasion.

Although you need to be reassured that I have the skills to carry out the role of a celebrant, the focus of my energy is always going to be you – the person planning the funeral.

My home is in Oxfordshire and I am available to conduct ceremonies across the UK. Please contact me to discuss your plans, I am always happy to help.
